Bradford’s Kirgate Shopping has had a busy couple of months, with a number of new shop openings, lease renewals, and the move to a new bigger unit for one well known-brand.
There are three new retailers in the centre; Zuuluu, Brow Line and VIP Premium Vaping & E-Cigarette Liquids and three retailers have recently renewed leases to remain; Warren James, Bodycare and Deichmann. Virgin Media has moved to a bigger unit from the upper mall, into the lower, Darley Mall.
Owned by Bradford couple, Neelum Mukhtar and Mark Harrison, Zuuluu is an ethically-sourced jewellery, clothing and homeware store; selling handmade items sourced from countries such as Indonesia, Africa, Nepal and the Middle East. Brow Line offers threading and waxing services for eye brows and VIP specialises in premium electronic cigarettes.
One of the largest jewellers in the UK, Warren James, offers affordable, quality jewellery. Eleanor Stanley, shop manager, commented on the renewal of their lease: “This branch is one of the Warren James originals so we have been here, in this centre, for many years and are not planning on going anywhere. We are very happy here!”
Lease renewals have also been received from toiletries retailer Bodycare, which is marking its 17th year in Kirkgate Shopping and footwear chain Deichmann. Virgin Media’s move into a bigger unit reflects the success of its Bradford branch since it moved to Kirkgate Shopping in 2013.
Kirkgate Shopping centre manager Catherine Riley commented: “The last few months have been busy, busy at Kirkgate Shopping, with new stores, faces, renewals and shoppers. The variety of the shops in the centre cater to a wide range of customers. We are delighted with how things are shaping up and there are lots more exciting things to come throughout the year, so keep your eyes peeled.”
Bradford’s Kirkgate Shopping, formerly known as the Arndale Shopping Centre, first opened its doors in 1976 following a £4million investment by The Arndale Property Trust led by American-style mall pioneers, Arnold Hagenbach and Sam Chippendale. Dubbed Bradford’s ‘space age shopping centre’ as it opened its doors, Kirkgate Shopping offers 650 parking spots on-site and remains the home of more than 70 retail units and one of two Bradford indoor markets.
