Transport rep sought for Bradford

A business representative is sought to speak up for Bradford on transport issues.

While no direct link with working in the sector is necessary, candidates need to be interested in local and regional transport issues, in particular how they affect business.

A West & North Yorkshire-wide transport group would meet approximately quarterly and be chaired by Alec Shelbrooke MP, who has close links to ministers and civil servants in the Department for Transport.

The group will be an expanded version of a current Leeds set-up, and is in response to the Chamber merger earlier this year of Bradford, Leeds and York & North Yorkshire.  It is also timely due to the creation of a West Yorkshire Combined Authority charged with controlling a transport investment fund.

The current group is made up of both private and public sector reps.
