The Rise of Home Grown Talent at Rex Procter & Partners

Rex Procter & Partners have recently appointed four new Associates, Marcus Rathbone, Andrew Cowling, Simon Hughes and John Woodhead.

Having recently ranked 13th in Building Magazine’s Top 50 Quantity Surveyors list, Rex Procter & Partners are recognised as one of the largest Construction Consultants in the North of England, and are committed to growing their southern offices to reflect this.

Rex Procter & Partners are proud of their dedication to the development of their “home grown talent”. Both Marcus and Andrew have been with Rex Procter & Partners since the beginning of their careers and have both benefitted from the “in-house” training programmes offered by the company. Accredited with Investors in People, Rex Procter & Partners has an RICS approved Structured Training Framework and takes seriously its commitment to training and to supporting employees who are progressing towards their APC and beyond. Encouraging development, actively supporting formal education at Universities and Colleges as well as supporting and providing opportunities to develop through project work, in-house seminars and “on the job” learning.

Marcus Rathbone (BSc (Hons) MRICS) has been with Rex Procter & Partners since 1999, becoming Chartered in 2003, and has developed a range of Quantity Surveying and Employer’s Agent experience in the retail and commercial sector. His specialist knowledge lies in road, rail and air transport. Marcus works within the commercial team assisting clients develop their existing and new assets. Most recently, Marcus has joined the team working on the new Bradford Sports Facilities projects, lending his knowledge and experience of Project Managing a NEC form of Contract.

Andrew Cowling (BSc (Hons) MRICS) joined Rex Procter & Partners in 2001 from College and has benefitted from the company’s in-house training programme. He has been responsible for developing a number of management tools for standardised, multiple project roll out works, which have been integral to a series of projects for major retail clients.

In addition, Simon Hughes (BSc (Hons) MAPM ICIOB) has recently been appointed by Rex Procter & Partners Marlow office. Simon joins RPP having worked with JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle) for the past five years. His experience has crossed a number of roles in numerous sectors. Most recently Simon implemented a Global Programme Manager Office for GlaxoSmithKline and managed a capital workplace portfolio delivering office/ workplace projects in EMEA.

John Woodhead joins the London office today. With more than twenty years in the construction industry, directly working with private sector organisations in the UK on new build refurbishment projects and roll out programmes, John’s Project Management skills will significantly improve the service offering in the south.
