The Bradford Dragonboat Festival  is a whole community festival that is designed and delivered by volunteers from the community. In fact everything about the Festival is all about the community of the City of Bradford and its surrounding districts. All the participants that take part come from the community. All the acts & performers are local acts who come and perform for free. All the traders come from the district. And all the money we raise goes to help good causes right across the community.

The festival would not be what it is with out the support of the local business. The entire festival each year is done from a zero starting budget. It is through contributions, donations, sponsorship packages and support that we can bring in the infrastructure that we use. And in return we can help to support and promote these businesses and organisations from everything from advertising, brand awareness to allowing them to meet CSR, oh and the small and enjoyable matter of providing corporate team building in a fun and exciting way.

The festival is now in its 3rd year, but already we are the largest festival of its type in the UK and we have won awards. These awards have come against big budget festivals and events and in categories that we do not have as our main focus. In fact our festival has been noticed right across the UK, with other cities/regions wanting what Bradford has.

The Festival is successful on so many levels, it brings everyone together in unity and provide a fantastic fun day out for all and this year we are set to go much bigger and loads better. For 2017 we are adding a Youth Championships for Schools and Youth Organisations in the district. This will be the first time that such a Championships has been done in the UK, so this would be another coup for Bradford. This championships would take place on Friday 5th May 2017. The following day (Sat 6th  May 2017) will still be the main day of the festival and last year saw 45 teams come from across the district to battle it out and raise a huge amount for local good causes and saw in excess of 15000 people attend. We aim for the same number of teams this year, with already 24 teams signed up and many more pending.

On the Sunday we are set to open up the competition and invite the major corporate teams from across the UK. We have all the infrastructure, we have the perfect venue, we have the perfect Festival, an award winning festival, we now want to showcase Bradford to the rest of the UK and show how fantastic and wonderful the City of Bradford, its surrounding districts and the people who make up all of this truly are.

So we want to tell everyone about it and this includes all the businesses and associations etc who make up your membership. Equally there is a real opportunity for all to become involved including yourselves.

We now look forward to hearing from you and how we can all take this Festival to even bigger heights. One Community, one Bradford all coming together in one magical and wonderful occasion. Be a part of that winning team.
