Reading Matters was delighted to be invited to train peer mentors as Reading Leaders at The International School of The Hague in the Netherlands last week.
The school has students with a wide variety of nationalities and first languages and is confident that the Reading Leaders will be able to raise reading attainment and enjoyment among those primary pupils that are currently less confident with English.
The feedback has been excellent from both the staff and students. One student said “Thank you for coming all this way to train us, I really appreciate it and enjoyed learning how to judge my reading partner’s reading level”. Another added, “I really learned a lot and I am looking forward to working with a younger student”.
