Odeon music plan gets the nod

The long-running plan to bring the former Odeon cinema back into use has taken another step forward.

Bradford Council has backed the plans of local businessman Lee Craven to convert the building into a live music venue.  The £18m vision would have a 4,000-plus capacity, and could also host conferences and exhibitions.

A development agreement is now to be drawn up to allow ownership to be transferred from the Council to Bradford Live, the group behind the bid.

Mr Craven, a member of Bradford Property Forum, hopes to have the venue up and running by 2018.
