Three Bradford mums have received gift hampers worth £250 to help celebrate their 40th birthdays, following heartfelt nominations from friends and family.
The trio were awarded by Kirkgate Shopping and its retailers to mark the centre’s 40th birthday, after asking customers to nominate mums, friends and wives on social media.
Among 50 entries were those who had undergone hardships, illnesses or whose friends and families believed they deserved recognition and a prize of treats from The Fragrance Shop, O2 and vouchers from Kirkgate Shopping.
Julie Gudegeon, who turned 40 in August and received three nominations from her friend, brother and husband, said: “I couldn’t believe it when I found out I’d won! My husband suffered a stroke while we were in France with our two children recently. It was a difficult time but we’re all home safe now and the news of being nominated in and winning Kirkgate’s competition was much needed, reading the nominations was lovely in itself!”
Julie joined fellow winners Yasmin Kauser and Sarah Sellers at a prizegiving with centre manager Catherine Riley, which included vouchers from Kirkgate retailers.
Catherine said: “We launched this competition as turning 40 is all about feeling fabulous and celebrating a successful future; something Kirkgate Shopping and our well-deserving winning mums have in common.
“It was difficult to choose just three entries as everyone’s nominations were so wonderful, but we hope Julie, Yasmin and Sarah enjoy their prizes and spending their vouchers on some extra treats for themselves!”
The prizes from Kirkgate Shopping included a ‘phone survival’ accessories kit from O2, a scent discovery box from The Fragrance Shop and a £100 voucher for either Primark or Argos.
