Joanna Robinson, Managing Director for Mansfield Pollard, has been revealed as a finalist in this year’s inaugural IoD Director of the Year Awards (Yorkshire and North East division).
The awards celebrate the crème de la crème of business leaders in Yorkshire and the North East and applaud individuals whose creativity, leadership and responsible business practices have led to success for their organisation and the community.
Gillian Southern MBE, Wessington Cryogenics Ltd, Mohamed Aslam MBE, Aagrah Restaurant Group and Paul Teasdale, Premier Technical Services Group have also been shortlisted in the Mid-Market Director category.
Joanna joined Mansfield Pollard in 2002 as Financial Controller and soon established herself as a significant member of the management team and became heavily involved in the general running of the company. She became Finance Director in 2007, then Managing Director in 2013 following unanimous backing from the Board.
Since 2013 her leadership has brought a number of significant changes to the organisation, which has included restructuring the senior management team, promoting a stronger customer focus and investing in learning and development.
Joanna’s leadership has been characterised by her creation of a clear strategy for the future development of the business and by her willingness to engage with others, encourage team development, invest in people, and take measured risks. These attributes have contributed to Mansfield-Pollard’s recent successes.
Joanna is keen to encourage new blood in to the industry and is regularly involved in campaigns that raise awareness about the challenging and exciting careers paths available within an engineering business.
The awards take place at Leeds Crowne Plaza Hotel on Thursday 30 June. The IoD is the UK’s longest running independent organisation for professional leaders. Their annual awards recognise directors who have shown outstanding leadership in their business area.
Joanna Robinson said; “I’m still on a high after winning the Bradford Means Business ‘Business Woman of the Year Award’ last week, so to make the shortlist for the IoD Awards feels incredible.
“To be named alongside such exemplary business figures is an honour, and the shortlist for this year reflects the diversity, diligence and dedication of the region’s very best business leaders.”
