JCT600 ranked in 2016’s Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For list

Family-owned Yorkshire motor retailer JCT600 has been named in the Sunday Times ‘Best 100 Companies to Work For’ list for 2016 in recognition of the “outstanding levels of engagement” of its 2,300-strong workforce.

The business, which was built up from a single garage in Bradford by chairman Jack Tordoff , now has 50 dealerships throughout Yorkshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and the North East and sells 18 of the world’s most respected brands, including  Aston Martin, Audi, Bentley, BMW/MINI, Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Vauxhall and Volkswagen.

JCT600 chief executive John Tordoff said: “We are incredibly proud to be included in this prestigious ranking for the very first time.  It’s been a long, but very rewarding journey for us all and to be recognised in this way by our colleagues is a tremendous achievement.  We pride ourselves on being a family business, with strong family values, and whilst the business has grown immeasurably over recent years through acquisition and organic growth, it’s very pleasing to see our new colleagues feel the same way about the business as those who have worked in the business for a very long time indeed. They are all part of the JCT600 family”.

He added: “We are well aware that what makes a company great is the people within it, and we put a lot effort into recruiting candidates with the right skills and attitude, and then into nurturing them so that they stay with us and grow their careers as we grow.  In 2015 we appointed 27 new apprentices and our ‘Wired’ programme is just one of the industry-leading initiatives that we have put in place to help our people develop and feel fulfilled in their jobs.”

The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For rankings are widely acknowledged as the most extensive research into employee engagement in the UK.  Scores and ratings that are assessed to compile the lists are based on employee opinions, and questionnaires are revised and updated every year to reflect current workplace concerns.

JCT600 will find out what position within the top 100 the business has achieved at an award ceremony in London in February.
