Local job seekers in the Bingley area are being invited to sign up for a free course to help them get a head start into work.
The 12-week employability course, starting later this month, is being run by Incommunities’ Open Field service and is designed to get people ‘job ready’ for any opportunities coming up.
It is accredited by City and Guilds and the Open Field team are talking to local employers in sectors such as retail, warehousing, cleaning and administration to encourage them to look at recruiting from those completing the course.
The training will include sessions on:-
- effective interviewing skills
- building your confidence
- understanding the workplace
- presenting your skills and qualities to employers
- and look at the recruitment and selection methods businesses use.
The course starts on Tuesday, 28th July and is being held at The Cabin on Crosley Wood Road. It will run every Tuesday morning between 9.30am – 12.30pm.
Steve Short, Director of Incommunities – Open Field, said: “This free course is designed to give local people the opportunity to access job opportunities by giving them the right skills to attract prospective employers.
“It is just one of a number of local initiatives being run by the Open Field team to get residents into employment, develop their skills and also start up their own enterprise.”
Since Open Field was formed in 2009 and has helped over 2,500 people into work, 3,500 into training and supported over 300 people to start up their own business.
