Christeyns apprentice Luke Chadwick wins industry award

Laundry chemical manufacturer Christeyns has much to celebrate as apprentice Luke Chadwick walked away with a top industry award at the Laundry and Dry Cleaning Awards (LADAs) earlier this month.

Twenty one year old Luke is from Farsley, Leeds and now well into the third year of his Apprenticeship at Christeyns. Having spent his initial two-year foundation period working across all departments he now has a further year in his chosen area of Laundry Technical Service Accounts Management.

During his apprenticeship, Luke has gained his Fork Lift Truck (FLT) license, learnt how to use the companies MRP/MPS operating system, gained significant knowledge in the finance department, customer services department and all production departments.  Also earlier this year Luke was selected by Appris to be the Team Leader heading up a team entered by them in the national awards scheme run by the Brathay Trust.

Luke has also accompanied Christeyns Works Manager at several job fairs in local schools and volunteered to work on the Bradford Digital Ambassador Network during 2015.

Neville Kildunne, Works Manager and Apprenticeship Scheme Mentor commented: “There is no doubt that Luke has become a valuable part of the Christeyns ‘team’, proving time and again that he has the ability to develop and grow and in doing so assist in the achievement of Christeyns’ business goals.  This award is very well deserved and Luke sets an example for all our future apprentices.”

Apprenticeships are at the heart of all staffing policies at Christeyns and the firm understands that to remain competitive and at the forefront of its field, it must nurture tomorrow’s talent.     Currently five apprentices are employed by Christeyns and provided that they complete the programme and show passion to help the business improve, they will all be offered opportunities to remain with the company.

Christeyns UK is part of the Christeyns group, based in Ghent, Belgium. Its principal focus is the manufacture and supply of detergents and supporting chemicals for the commercial laundry sector across the UK in which it is the market leader.
