A plan to convert the upper floors of one of Bradford’s former landmark buildings into an aparthotel has been given the nod.
The former Brown Muff & Co department store, on the corner of Market Street and Ivegate, has been ear-marked for conversion into a 69-bedroom refurbishment, and a planning application has been approved. While the ground floor of the former department store, which closed as Rackhams in 1995, has been divided into smaller retail units, the upper floors have stood empty for years.
Stamford Properties are to carry out the redevelopment, and the entrance is to be on Ivegate. Aparthotels are often used on a longer basis than regular hotels.
