Skipton, Keighley, Bradford and Bingley based law firm AWB Charlesworth Solicitors have raised almost £6000 for Martin House Hospice from events held throughout 2016.
Martin House Hospice, which has now been established for 30 year, provides family led care for children with life-limiting conditions. It is a place where children, young people and their families can stay from time to time along their journey and find support, rest and practical help.
AWB Charlesworth Solicitors have been supporters of the Wetherby based Charity for a number of years now and the steady stream of small fundraising efforts included a bake off, cake sales; Rugby World Cup sweepstake; a French themed charity dinner evening; Christmas card donations; sales of Martin House Raffle tickets and a Christmas Jumper day. The firm also supported several larger events in 2016: the annual ‘Dragon Boat Race’- raising over £500 and the charity Golf Day hosted jointly by AWB Charlesworth and business friends Skipton Accountants Pearson & Associates- raising over £2100.
The Charity Golf day was attended by teams from the Devonshire Hotel; Manse Capital; Trio; Gareth Clarke Landscapes and Bluefin Insurance to name a few. They all donated very generously in their team entries, beat the pro competitions and purchase of raffle tickets on the day. The event was also sponsored by companies advertising throughout the golf course.
This hugely popular event will be held again for a 4rd time at the end of July this year, and already has 11 teams signed up. It has continued to prove itself to be a day filled with fun, competition, raffle prizes, food and drinks.
John Haigh, Corporate Fundraiser at Martin House, said “We were delighted to have been so substantially supported by the AWB Charlesworth team in all sorts of ways during 2016 – with a cumulative total raised of almost £5,800. This is enough to cover the cost of a weekend break for five families, to give them time and space together when they need it most – a chance to relax and to make memories and just be a family for a few days. AWB Charlesworth is not a huge law firm but they have given massive support to Martin House families for several years, and is a relationship we value very highly. We are delighted that their support will continue in 2017, which is our 30th Anniversary year.”
Declan Hayes partner at AWB Charlesworth said “The Firm is delighted to have supported Martin House in 2016 and we are looking forward to supporting their work again in 2017. “
