The close partnership between West Yorkshire Trading Standards and Steeton-based Acorn Stairlifts has been recognised with two nominations being placed in the 2016 Primary Authority Awards.
Acorn is one of the largest stairlift suppliers in the world, exporting from its UK factories to 80 different countries, including the USA where it is the market leader for stairlifts.
Jackie White of West Yorkshire Trading Standards said “This Service has had a successful partnership with Acorn Stairlifts for the past three years. Openness and transparency are at the heart of the success of our partnership with Acorn. This is why we have nominated them for an award in the Partnership category of the 2016 Primary Authority Awards”.
“Acorn supplies its stairlifts mainly to elderly consumers,” said Acorn’s Company Secretary Dave Belmont. “Receiving excellent support, guidance and training from West Yorkshire Trading Standards has allowed Acorn to grow both our business both in the UK and abroad. During the last 12 months, our UK workforce has grown by 10%.”
In a second category, Trading Standards Officer Caroline Kilbride has been nominated as Primary Authority Officer of the Year for her work with Acorn.
Dave Belmont said “Since first looking after Acorn under the Primary Authority scheme back in 2012, Caroline has provided us with excellent support, guidance and training. She has always been proactive and supportive – Caroline is an excellent ambassador for the Primary Authority scheme.”
“The placing of two nominations demonstrates the successful partnership that Acorn and West Yorkshire Trading Standards enjoy – truly based on openness and transparency. We are proud that West Yorkshire Trading Standards values our partnership so highly” he said.
