Acorn make largest annual donation to Manorlands from a business in the Keighley District

A Steeton stairlift company has given a massive lift to Manorlands.

Rachel Shaw and Gill Smillie of Acorn Stairlifts have presented the Oxenhope Sue Ryder hospice with a bumper cheque for a total of £17,845 following a series of events held in 2015.

Staff turned out in force for the Keighley BigK 10k walk/run last March and have continued fundraising with a series of dress-down days, a garden party, and the Starlight Hike, all ending with a special Christmas Raffle.

“Acorn staff are delighted to support such an excellent local charity. Gill and Rachel worked tirelessly organising all of these events,” said company secretary Dave Belmont.

Acorn Stairlifts recently won the Raising the Bar award from the North & West Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce as the company who in the eyes of the judges had ‘Raised the Bar’ the most across four categories of community, education, economy and the environment.

Sue Ryder regional fundraiser Andrew Wood said “Once again the team at Acorn Stairlifts have excelled themselves and raised a terrific total over the past year. This is the largest annual donation from a business in the Keighley District and it makes a massive difference to the local people who benefit from our care each year. The team at Acorn have kindly pledged to continue supporting our care in 2016 which will start with the Keighley BigK 10K walk/run on March 6. We will also have some exciting new events for the staff to get involved in this year too.”
